Speculative Charting, Part 2: Does A Spike in the Nasdaq / NYSE Volume Ratio Anticipate S&P 500 Declines?

January 16th, 2009 · No Comments · Financial Markets, Information Design

Back in June, 2008 I wondered: does a spike in the Nasdaq volume to NYSE volume ratio presage a decline in the S&P 500. I based this on some finding I had read somewhere (of course, never to be retrieved from my tired old brain).

I thought, given recent events, it would be worthwhile to chart this again and see if the correlation continues. Check it out.

This is, of course, purely speculative, so I don’t draw any serious conclusions from it, other than that it looks interesting.
